The array formation placed on the courtyard was clearly very dangerous, but City Lord Vaughn had a good grasp over it and with his help, they managed to crack the array after only about an hour. Everyone looked at the array formation with dread, even Grey had a look of fear in his eyes.
If he had recklessly charged into the courtyard and was caught by this array, there's a good chance that he wouldn't have made it out alive. The realization of this made him a little scared.
The group didn't immediately step into the courtyard after they cracked the formation, rather, they stayed outside the courtyard and regained their used up energy. Given how dangerous the array formation was, when the City Lord suggested they took a short rest before continuing, none of them argued.
During their rest, Grey took the time to talk to City Lord Vaughn. This was a very complex array, one has to know that Grey could be regarded as an Arraymaster and he has a certain degree of obsession towards studying arrays like these. Although he was part of the group that cracked the array formation, he still didn't get a good grasp of the array formation. And since the array was already broken, there's no way he would be able to study it. Grey felt since City Lord Vaughn had a way to crack it, then he had a good understanding of the array formation.
City Lord Vaughn was taken by surprise when Grey asked about the array formation, nevertheless, he didn't withhold any information and told Grey all he knew about the array.
Apparently, City Lord Vaughn stumbled upon this place some decades back, if not for the people who were caught inside this array formation at the time he came, he too would've recklessly charged into the courtyard. Shockingly, one of the people stuck inside was adept in array formation, with no other choice, he explained his understanding of the formation to City Lord Vaughn in hopes that he will be able to save him. As long as City Lord Vaughn managed to grasp it, he believed that he would be able to break the array formation. Unfortunately for the Arraymaster, City Lord Vaughn might be strong, but he had never dabbled into array formations prior to that day. At the time he fully grasped the array formation, the Arraymaster was dead.
If this was any ordinary array formation, there's a high chance that City Lord Vaughn would've been able to comprehend it in a short time.
"The method to break this array formation was developed by that Arraymaster, but that method can only be used if someone is stuck inside." City Lord Vaughn, noticing everyone had their eyes on him, added. The conversation was initially between himself and Grey, but knowing that the others were curious as to how he got the method to break this array formation, he explained.
Grey fell into thoughts before opening his mouth, "But you never entered the array formation. From what I can tell, this formation is powerful but it's within its restricted area."
Hearing Grey's words, the others nodded. Even Lord Harry gave City Lord Vaughn a questioning look. All of them were experts and knew for a fact that although City Lord Vaughn was floating above the courtyard, he never really entered within the constraint of the array formation.
City Lord Vaughn chuckled and explained, "That's because this old man modified the method to break it. I'd never dare to use that Arraymaster's means." An embarrassed smile appeared on his face as he added, "It took this old master a decade to comprehend that Master's method. Not just that, but it would've required me getting into the array."
When the others heard that it took City Lord Vaughn a decade to grasp the array formation, they couldn't help but suck in a deep breath and feel a sense of pity for the Arraymaster who passed on the method to City Lord Vaughn. They could tell that he hoped to be able to leave this place with the aid of City Lord Vaughn. Never would he have expected that City Lord Vaughn would take that long to comprehend it.
Grey on the other hand didn't see anything wrong with that. In truth, if he were also placed in the same position, although it would've been faster, he didn't believe that he would've been able to save the Arraymaster in time. While cracking the array, he took the opportunity to study it, and he didn't even grasp any form of rudimentary understanding of it. Since City Lord Vaughn has never tried to get the basic understanding of array formations, it's normal for it to take so long to comprehend the method to break such a complex array formation.
"If it's possible, can City Lord show me the method passed to you. I'll give a satisfactory compensation." Grey communicated with City Lord Vaughn via spiritual transmission after some contemplation. An array formation of this caliber will always be appealing to Arraymasters.
City Lord Vaughn didn't expect Grey to ask for this, but since it wasn't something he had any use for, he didn't bother about requesting for any form of compensation as he straight up tossed a slip made from a strange marble to Grey.
Grey caught the slip and didn't after taking a glance, he tossed it into his spatial ring. The others noticed City Lord Vaughn passing on the slip to Grey but they weren't concerned about it. What mattered to them was entering this building that is protected by such a powerful array and had numerous skeletons sprawled on the ground. The fact that the array is this powerful is enough to show that whatever is kept here wouldn't be useless.
After passing the slip to Grey, City Lord Vaughn stood up, preparing to head into the building. The others were already waiting for him, so the moment he took a step, the rest of them followed behind him.
