1770 You Don't Seem To Understand Your Plight
"No one said that." The old man from the Vaergahl Family finally spoke up after being quiet for some time.
"Then what's the meaning of this?" The Toad Clan Leader questioned in a wronged voice.
"You wanted to kill his son, so should he hand over his son to you to kill?" The old man from the Vaergahl Family didn't think that the Toad would actually be such a shameless individual. He suddenly felt even more repelled by it. He had been trying to still keep a good relationship with the Toad Clan Leader due to the war, but now, he understood that only Lucas' option was viable here; either the Toad Clan Leader submitted to them or died, there's no other way around this.
Hearing the old man's question, the Toad froze, unsure of how to reply. Now that the old man brought that matter up, it was clear to see that it was the one who was acting overbearingly from the start, and only after realizing it had bitten off more than he could chew did it start retreating. It didn't expect that the father and son duo were psychopaths, if it knew, it would've never even agreed to this meeting in the first place. Without this meeting, it wouldn't have met these two messengers of calamity.
Its pitched black pupils darted around as it tried to look for a way to settle this matter. It might be incensed, but it didn't mean that it was dumb. Lucas and the old man from the Vaergahl Family will definitely be able to escape from its hands, as long as the duo left this place, then its Clan's extinction might not be mere words. It was still thinking about the matter when it suddenly recalled that it wasn't the only Magical Beast here. The pressure Lucas and Grey gave it made it actually forget that not only did it have more companions here, but there was also another Magical Beast present.
"Astarot, you brought these humans here, now you're keeping quiet?" It asked with a cold voice.
Sir Astarot spoke calmly after thinking for a short time, "I wasn't the one who threatened to eat anyone. This matter is caused by you, and you'll handle it on your own."
Seeing Sir Astarot decisively withdraw from the issue, the Toad Clan Leader was once again thrown into silence. No one was attacking as they both knew that a fight here would only bring about mutual destruction. Well… not really mutual destruction since one side will only lose a genius while the other side will be completely wiped out. There was no way the humans were losing against a single Magical Beast's Clan. If the Clans were allied together, that was a different matter. However, if they were not, the Toad Clan was no different from a fish on a chopping board.
"You're going to betray your race for humans?!" The Toad Clan Leader roared; if it didn't get Sir Astarot into the conversation, then the chances of it getting killed or having to live the rest of its life in hiding were very high. It's not only high, there's also a chance that it might not even get the chance to escape and will be killed.
"This is the Magical Beasts' territory! Are you going to allow humans to act in this manner here? If other Clans hear of this, do you think the peace of the Inner Court will continue?" It continued, trying to make sure it dragged Sir Astarot in.
Sir Astarot didn't panic as it replied in an unhurried manner, "Since when has the Inner Court been peaceful?"
"Fuck you!" The Toad Clan Leader didn't know when it cussed out. It had tried to force Grey and Lucas into doing its bidding, but it couldn't, so now it was even using the race card on Sir Astarot to have it intervene in this matter, yet it blatantly rejected it in front of the same humans that were threatening to kill it. Just when it was about to blow its top off, it heard Sir Astarot continue.
"Nevertheless, you're part of the Inner Court's Elders council, so I'll naturally not watch your Clan get wiped out." Sir Astarot's words made Lucas and the old man from the Vaergahl Family have a change of expression. They knew that Sir Astarot would naturally want to protect its people.
Hearing Sir Astarot's words, the Toad Clan Leader heaved a sigh of relief; from this, it could tell that Sir Astarot would not allow the wipeout of its clansmen, and since it had spoken, it had naturally made its intentions clear.
Lucas and the old man didn't speak as they both exchanged glances while pushing the essence in their bodies to the peak, clearly intending to have a fight with the Toads and even Sir Astarot if it came to it.
Sir Astarot felt a headache as it noticed the change. It was about to speak when Grey suddenly chuckled.
Grey's lips curved into a malicious grin as he continued staring at the Toad Clan Leader, his killing intent not diminishing at all.
"Boy, what's so funny?" The Toad Clan Leader frowned when it saw Grey chuckle. The maliciousness in Grey's eyes was clear as day, and even with Sir Astarot speaking up, Grey didn't back down.
"It seems like you haven't properly processed the position you're currently in." Grey chuckled, his statement making everyone surprised. Lucas focused his gaze on Grey, seemingly wanting to know where his confidence was from. Even he was a bit hard-pressed with Sir Astarot speaking up.
"Even with Astarot speaking you still intend to continue with your insolence?" The Toad Clan Leader looked at Grey coldly, and turned to Sir Astarot, "You see that these humans don't even place you in their eyes?"
"I believe you didn't hear Senior's words properly, so I'll say it again, this time slower so you can understand your plight," Grey paused and looked at the Toad Clan Leader with cold eyes, "You're part of the Elders council, so I'll naturally not watch your Clan get wiped out."
He made sure to emphasize the words, Clan and wiped out.
The Toad Clan leader looked at Grey a bit confused.
Lucas and the old man were also confused, but a second later, their eyes lit up.
