Ava couldn't help but keep shouting in agony as she watched everyone collapsed to the floor.
What the hell was going on?
Right then, Zac rushed to where she was hiding and hauled her out of the place- looking into her eyes impatiently.
"What's happening, Zac? Tell me, I really don't understand. Why are those people aiming at you?" She asked these in a crying tone, more tears rolling down her cheeks hysterically.
Curling his lips in displeasure, "We need to get out of here right now, Tinkerbell,"
Ava then glanced at the gun Zac was holding, "Explain to me why you're holding that. Tell me something, I don't understand a thing"
Instead of responding, Zac grabbed one of her hands and trotted out of the place, dodging the numerous bullets shooting at her on their way to the car.

With some blood spurts on their clothes, Ava and Zachary alighted from the body wrecked car which was dented all over due to the bullets fired at the car and screen. The car was such a life saver and Ava couldn't help but be thankful that it served more than it's purpose of transportation. Throughout the ride back, she angrily tapped the steering wheel consequently as a way of letting out her frustration but was totally and completely ignored by Zac. She couldn't help but wonder what the hell was going on. Thank goodness she obeyed him and called his men for before tossing the phone on the dashboard.
Zachary got down from the car walking inside his penthouse as he gave his men who had just arrived with them instructions on what to do. His mind was really filled up with a lot of thought that he has less time to think of what to say to Ava or even give her an explanation.
Infuriated, Ava walked over to him before he had the chance to ignore her completely. With a look as fierce as a lions, she yelled at him.
"What the hell just happened?" She asked, but Zach didn't know what to say, or where to start from. Thus, he kept silent.
"Really? Tell me this is a joke. You ain't going to say anything? Dont I deserve an explanation? I just experienced something as scary and traumatic as that and you aren't going to explain a damn thing to me? You had better be joking." Hurt showed in her voice as she got more and more angry. Perhaps, scared as well. The thought of what happened alone was enough to send her nerves wracking and stop working.
Zachary threw Ava a simple glance without emotion and headed for his room up in the penthouse. Ava wanted to follow behind him, but Reid stopped her by standing in her track.
"Would you please get the fuck off my way?" She threw a deadly look. If only looks could kill, Reid would be six feet under the ground within time.
"I've always told you to know your limit. Stay away from Zac. Stay away from him. Never do I want to see you with him again. You're such a badluck." Reid whispered into her ears and Ava's eyes couldn't help but gather tears as her vision got clouded.
But somehow, she held it in, pushing her way through Reid, after Zachary. But he didn't pay her the attention she needed or say a word to her. Arianna entered the room in a denim bum shorts and white T-shirt chewing some gum so noisily.
Tears finally dropped down Ava's cheeks at Arianna's presence. She kept asking Zac the same question, but all this time, Zac's back was just facing her with his hands in his trouser pocket as usual.
"What is she doing here?" Arianna asked like she didn't know who she was.
"You should just tell her off, Zach. I'd she conti yes a ring this way, it's going to be bad for us. You know right?"
Later, Zachary swirled around and commanded Lee to drop Ava off in her hostel, ignoring her queries.
"Just like that?" Ava had to blurt it out despite being in the presence of Arianna. The bitch smirked at her, and that was it. It was more than she could handle. She got mad and moved closer to Zac.
Planting a determined look on her face, Ava wiped her tears.
"You know what, you're just a liar. A manipulative liar and a goddamn selfish dude. You won't answer me because you deem it fit that I don't deserve an explanation right? Fine! I won't bother you again. I won't ask about it anymore." She said and relief washed over Zac. If only he knew what more she wanted to say...
"But one thing you should keep in mind is that the moment I leave here without a word from you, forget about seeing me. It going to be over between us." Ava concluded, more or less like a threat. Deep down inside her, a part of her wants him to just drop his ego and speak to her. She wanted to hear him say something. Anything at all, even if it wasn't about the incident.
However, it seemed as though Zac had made up his mind completely. Turning around to face her for the last time, he signalled at Lee to take her away.
"Get her to her hostel now." So cold and emotionless, his words were.
"Never!, Don't you dare lay your filthy hand on me." She warned as Lee made to lead her out of the building. She threw Zac a spiteful glare and left.
"Make sure you follow behind her. She has to go back unharmed." Zac said after she left and Lee ran after her in obedience.
Outside, Ava sturbonly began walking without looking back. Lee drove the car behind her silently for a while thinking she would come to her senses but she was too strong-headed to concur. Anrily, he got down from the car, walking up to her. He gripped her hand tightly dragging her to the car. Ava resisted so much that her hands turned red where she was held. Lee opened the car, pushing her to sit at the front. She wanted to stand but he stopped her.
"Don't make this any harder for me. I've had enough. Do you think you're a kid or something? You should know I don't give a fuck about whatever happens between you and boss, but he has given me his order and I must follow it.
Ava gave in at last because the aura was showing at that moment was so dreadful.
Throughout the short journey to her apartment, Ava couldn't help but sob as the events came flashing in her mind every sec.
Halting the car in front of her hostel, Ava quickly hopped out and turned to leave. Before she could complete a few couple of steps, she felt something on her hand. It was a grip on her arm. The grip made her stop and she was forced to look at his Lee's face expressionless face. Ava made sure she didn't look at his eyes as anger clouded her rationality. She tried jerking her hand away from his, but he held her tightly until she succumbes and paid attention to him.
"You shouldn't walk out on me." Lee sounded stern, his hand still gripping her arm.
"Let me go. What do you think you're doing?." Ava tried leaving once again.
Sighing, she placed her other hand on her waist as a thought flashed through her mind.
'Perhaps, she could get the information she needed from him.'
"If you're going to act this way, would you like to tell me what that was all about?" She asked and Lee immediately released her. Her trick won't work on him. He won't allow it.
"Do you know who those people were and why they shot at us? What got you involved in such shit in the first place?" She tried to act nice, but Lee saw though her facade. He only shrugged his shoulders and kept quiet.
"So you're not gonna talk about it ?"
"What do you want me to say?"
"Is that a question you should even ask? Well, I shouldn't be surprised. Beds of get same feather flock together." She concluded and turned to leave but stopped in her track soon.
"I can't answer your questions. It's not important." Lee said.
"Really!? What's that supposed to mean? Fine!. I don't know why I'm sitting here with you anyway."
"You shouldn't get the wrong idea..." Lee trailed off. "I don't know why I'm saying this, but I just think you should know. You shouldn't be so angry with the boss right now. He's only done you good than wrong. What he needs is time. If only you could be rational, you should be there with him instead of fuming like some babies who got their candy taken away.
"Fuck off" Ava spat even though she saw some sense in what he said. Lee returned to the car, driving off while Ava headed inside the apartment. It didn't take her long to get to her room. She walked past Charlotte who's watching TV while chewing some gum.
"Where are your manners? You aren't supposed to acknowledge my presence?." Charlotte asked, attracting her attention.
"You might as well go fuck some dude, Charlie. It would be better if you shut your shit mouth and mind your business." Ava scoffed and unlocked her door.
"Did she just talk back to me? Be wise she's fucking a rich nigga?" A part of Charlotte's heart was jealous.
"It had better not be me she's talking to that way. I might have to show her who the elder one is between us ". She blew a bubble, focusing her attention back on the TV.
Ava rolled her eyes and stepped inside her room. She leaned against the door and sliding down with her back still on the door.. She couldn't stop weeping. How can she be so stupid ? Always stupid. She barely could fathom why she always made wrong decisions. Scenes of what happened earlier in the day flashed through her mind and she couldn't help but cry more. She rested her elbows on her knees, holding her head in her hands.
"What have I gotten myself into?" She rubbed her head frustratedly. The most annoying part of her emotions was that he always made her want him badly. Despite the harsh words and threats she said to him in the day, she wished he was there to hold her again. She wanted to feel him touch her like every other nice time they've spent together.
Ava cried and cried really hard, recalling all the sweet memories of them together. How Zac had always appeared in her time of quandary. The amount of love he bestowed upon her. Zac was an icy cold man but when it comes to her he becomes someone else entirely.
Grazing her finger over the tiny emerald gold bracelet Zac had just given her when they were in the restaurant. she remembered his words, telling her that if she never take off the bracelet no matter what she heard or seen about him then he will be sure that she also loves him the same way he does. After the incident, she didn't take the bracelet off with hope in her heart that things would change in her favour. Was it just hope after all?
Thinking about this, Ava burst into another fresh wave of tears until she began to feel sleepy. She crawled up to her bed, laying on it and wallowed in tears till she slept off.
