"Why have you come in such cold weather?" Yun Jinnian said, letting Chu Yu into the bedroom, only to smell the scent of blood on him and ask in shock, "Are you injured?"
"Mhm, take a look for me!" Chu Yu said, sitting down on a stool with a bundle in hand.
Yun Jinnian hurriedly closed the window and stepped forward to help Chu Yu take off his clothes.
A large wound on the right shoulder, the flesh on top dark and necrotic, made Yun Jinnian’s heart ache, "You’ve been poisoned too?"
"I went to save someone, the arrow was poisoned, all the silver needles and such I used in the valley are in the bundle!"
Yun Jinnian didn’t dare to delay, quickly opening the bundle to reveal a medicine box she had used in the valley, knowing exactly where everything was.
She used a silver needle to relieve Chu Yu’s pain, then quickly cut away the necrotic flesh with a knife. Only after all the dead tissue had been trimmed did she sprinkle on medicinal powder and wrap the wound with gauze. Yun Jinnian then finally let out a slight sigh of relief and went to wash her hands in a basin to the side.
She carried the basin out of the room, heading toward the small kitchen, then quickly returned with it.

Chu Yu responded faintly, "Much better!"
"Lucky that you had the Detoxification Pill that I developed, otherwise..." Yun Jinnian did not finish her sentence.
But thinking about it made her feel a chill of fear.
"I had no choice but to go," he said.

"Mhm!" Chu Yu acknowledged, seeming about to fall asleep.
Watching him, Yun Jinnian shook her head slightly, "Why don’t you lie down and sleep for a while, and I’ll go read in the study."

Chu Yu thought he wouldn’t be able to sleep but soon fell into a deep slumber.
After reading for a while, Yun Jinnian got up to adjust the wick of the lamp and checked Chu Yu’s forehead for fever. Seeing that he was not feverish, she felt slightly relieved, tucked him in, and sat down to continue reading.
When she felt tired, Yun Jinnian lay down on the edge of the bed and fell deeply asleep.
The moment she fell asleep, Chu Yu opened his eyes and gently curled a strand of her hair in his hand to play with.
And so the night went until dawn.
As the sky began to brighten, any movement from Chu Yu woke Yun Jinnian. She got up groggily to help him, "Are you leaving now?"
"Mhm, there’s a banquet at the palace, and a few of us are going tonight," he replied.
Yun Jinnian, not knowing who "a few of us" referred to, said, "Then be careful, don’t split your wound, and remember to take your medicine!"
"I know!" Chu Yu ruffled Yun Jinnian’s hair, "I’ll come back tonight!"
Yun Jinnian was taken aback for a moment, "Aren’t you staying with the Princess to see the New Year in?"
"She has others to accompany her; she doesn’t need me. Remember to come back to Niannian Garden early tonight; I’ve prepared a gift for you!"
