"Did you speak to Calhoun?" Mrs. Lawson senior asked.
Mr. Lawson senior, walked slowly towards his bed and sat down. They had seen a note from the television station about the interview Alice Brentwood made before it even got to the media. This was why he went to Calhoun, hoping to get something. But he got nothing.
"That boy is just like his father," he said with a smile. "He won't say anything until next Sunday," he told his wife.
Mrs. Lawson left the dressing table where she had been taking off her make up and jewelries to prepare for the night, "he is coming home?" She asked.
"Yes. He said he will come home and this time, he is bringing the girl he spoke of."
Mrs. Lawson wasn't satisfied with his answer. "Did you confirm again if it is Alice or Ariana, that was her name right?"
Mr. Lawson heaved a sigh. "We will just have to wait. I don't think we have another choice."
She came and sat on the bed close to him. "But your friend will be worried. You promised him... We will lose a lot of money, if Calhoun doesn't take Brentwood's daughter as a bride!"
Mr. Lawson turned on his bed and looked into his wife's eyes. "I promised to do what's best for Calhoun. And it is what I will do. If he doesn't want their daughter they can take their contract to someone else. I don't care! I am not a poor man, a few million dollars won't be the end of us..."
She took a deep breathe and decided to calm her mind. If her husband thought, they would handle it, then that was exactly what was going to happen.
"Now, let's go to bed. Tomorrow will be another day." He dropped a kiss over her head and turned to his side of the bed.
Mrs. Lawson also crawled to her side of the bed and slowly let sleep take her away as she thought of her dear grandson's future.
Lily who had been by the door have dropping into their conversation turned away slowly as she heard them retiring to bed. She had just heard a mega news and she couldn't keep it to herself. She had to tell her husband.
Ever since she had seen that show and Alice Brentwood mentioned being in a relationship with Calhoun she knew something was wrong. Lily ran to her room and pushed it open.
Benson raised his head from what he was doing and glared at her. "What's wrong now? You know mother hates it when you make so much noise." He hissed.
"Oh please, I have great news!" She said waving her hands in the air.
Benson dropped the papers in front of him and gave her his full attention. He knew his wife was smart, for her to be this excited about something, it was surely a great news indeed.
"What did you hear?" He asked her.
She moved closer to him and lowered herself so she could sit on the edge of the bed. "Remember that show I told you about?"
Benson narrowed his eyes and his brow met together. "The one about Brentwood's daughter?"
"Yes!" Lily squeaked happily. "That's the one I am talking about. I just found out that your parents have a major deal with the Brentwood and before it can work, Calhoun will have to marry their daughter. If he doesn't they will take it away!"
Benson hissed and turned back yo his papers. "How does this news sound great to you? They always find more ways to better Calhoun's life forgetting they have other grandchildren!"
Lily tapped him gently on the arm. "Benson, you are not looking at it lie I am. We could mine money from so many angles! Can't you see it?"
Benson dropped his papers once again and glared at her. "How?"
"Enh it's simple. First it looks like Calhoun doesn't want Alice. So we can either make Alice want our Matt or Noah—"
"That will not work, that Brentwood girl, wont fall for it." Benson said interrupting his wife.
"Honey, all they have to do is seduce her and once she falls, we will get money from your father and her father. We will be rich!" Lily exclaimed with excitement running in her eyes. In her mind she had already received the money.
Benson shook his head. "Okay that aside, what's your second idea?" He knew his sons were useless. He wouldn't want to marry them if he were turned into a girl himself.
"Well, for the second Idea, I can try to talk to Alice. Give her tips on how to get Calhoun. I am sure she will appreciate me! Then, I will ask her to give some of the contract share she wants to give to your father to us!"
"Okay that sounds like a brilliant idea, but how will you reach her?" Benson asked. If he could trust anyone to manipulate someone , then it would be his wife. Lily had a degree in manipulation. She stood a chance.
"I will send an email to her. Don't worry. Reaching her isn't the problem at all," she said cheerfully.
"I hope it works out just fine. You need to set out amazing clothes so that when she does agree to see you, yiu will be ready for her as well." Benson adjusted his papers and dropped his pen. Getting a contract from the Brentwood wasn't a smk thing. They woukd surely be in.money.
"Okay. I will handle that. You just relax and smile for we will finally be able to stand on our feet again. Your parents will have no other choice but to cut off Calhoun from the inheritance!" She clapped her hands in excitement as she thought if the many things that would happen to them once they got money.
Benson got up from the chair and moved to the bed. "We should go to sleep. The week will be long."
Lily joined her husband on the bed and slept with a smile on her face. Now the future was starting to look bright.
