The moment her six inch high heels stepped unto the reception area, the entire place went as silent as a graveyard.
She walked with the confidence of a goddess. Her blonde hair was sleeked to the back of her skull like an alien princess that have seen too many good days to understand how to treat lower people. She strutted towards the elevator without having the need to go to the receptionist and that one didn't dare stop her to ask where she was heading to.
Even the elevator seemed to be scared of her as it moved without a sound up to the floor she had commanded it to go. The only thing left out of her ensemble was a tail for everyone that saw the woman walking down the corridor, shuffled far away. She was a true representation of the devil in the corporate world.
Alice Brentwood.
She stepped out of the elevator and moved with enough confidence to defeat even the most beautiful of pageants. She got to Calhoun's door and took a deep breathe like she was calming her already high nerves into doing something she shouldn't be doing.
In Alice world, doors shouldn't be knocked by her precious hands but by the people coming to beg her. She had decided to take this low step because she wanted something from Calhoun. She wanted his money and then his love.
Alice Brentwood knocked the door and pushed it open without waiting for an answer, doing that would be too shameful to even think of.
As she stepped in, her cold eyes narrowed at the person on the seat. this isn't who she wanted. "What are you doing here?" She barked at the manager she looted so much.
As soon as she married Calhoun, she would have this guy fired. Just as she did to Ariana Brown.
Zion got up from the chair, he shouldn't have been occupying and walked to her. He dared to stretch his hand forward for a shake.
Alice raised her brows menacingly glaring at him. If her glares were fire, Zion would have melted in a pool of his own blood.
"Good afternoon, Miss Alice, how may I help you today?" Zion said with his hand still stretched. It was as if he was immune to all the things Alice was doing to him. Well, this wasn't the first time she was treating him this way. They had gone to the same high school and Alice was a senior back then. She was known to be rude and disrespectful. Zion wasn't in the least offended by her antics.
"There is nothing good about this afternoon and there is nothing you can help me with! Why are you in here?" She barked. Her patience was slowly going to slits and she didn't know how long she would be able to hold it in. This was supposed to be Calhoun's office, what was Zion going here?
Zion smiled at her question and took down his hand. "I am sorry Miss Alice, but I can't disclose that to you. But I will ask again, how may I help you?"
Alice thought she would go rabid with anger. "How dare you give me such a rude reply?"
Zion rolled his eyes and detached his tie a little lower. He retuned to his chair and lowered himself. Alice was surely going to create a scene and he didn't have the strength for it.
"I am talking to you and you have decided to have a sit? Are you out of your mind? Do you know the kind of relationship I have with your boss? Do you know you can lose this job?" She yelled completely going beserk in him.
Zion in the other hand looked calm. He didn't break a sweat at all. None of the threats she gave moved him. He knew what he was doing and he cared less about her arguments.
"Miss Alice, please take a seat and let's have a conversation about this because in all sincerity, my boss won't see you."
"What?" Alice repeated. Her eyes had turned red and her body became hot as her temperature rose with her anger. "You dare talk to me like that?"
"According to office laws, you are the one who has been rude and has acted out of place. I am offering you a seat. Be civilized and take it." Zion was firm as he spike to her. He took her as a rude client and nothing more. This was a job Mr. Lawson had assigned to him. He would do his best to confirm to it no matter what happened. As long as he didn't lay his finger on her, she had nothing against him.
"You think you know the rules?" She asked. Her voice had taken such a high pitch, it took a lot of Zion's manners not to cover his ears and cower away from her. she looked like an evil princess from a bedtime story.
"I know the rules Miss Alice, I don't think. I graduated with the highest honors in business school and you didn't. You were just lucky to get a job because your parents owned the jib," Zion told her.
"Argh!" She snapped throwing her bag at him. "How dare you insult me like this, you low life? How dare you?" She barked as she stumped her foot on the tiled floor like a child.
"I am sorry Miss Alice but if you repeat that action again, I will have no choice but to call the security on you."
Alice started laughing. Her laughter soon grew hysterical as she realise that what he was saying was not baseless. He wouldn't dare be in Calhoun's office if the man hadn't let him in by himself. Shit!
She took brisk steps towards him and grabbed her bag from the floor. Her throw was so pathetic it didn't even reach the table. She got her bag with an awkward bend to the floor and trued to compose herself all over again but it was a difficult task her hair was all over the place and her makeup was ruined by her sweat.
"Fine! You think you are so smart! I will leave but I can assure Zion, I will be back! Fool!" She cussed before walking out of the office with not so much confidence as before.

She kept screaming in her head. This was not what she planned. This was not it at all!
