The sweet smell of the thick potato-filled Sofia's nose. The aroma reminded her of how hungry she was. She had not put any substance in her mouth since she ate breakfast this morning.
"I can see the burning hunger in your eyes," Alice joked as she placed both of their plates on the neatly arranged dining table.
Alice settled on the chair facing Sofia. Her sister was already lost in her thoughts. It pained Alice to see her sister in so much pain. All because of a man. She would have made it her life's job to hurt Ethan, but if she did that her sister would only be more hurt.
"Hey, the food would get cold," Alice said to Sofia.
"Oh, right," Sofia said silently before she picked up the fork.
Sofia gently stirred the soup on the plate before she placed the spoon in her mouth. The flavors in the food melted in her mouth and her stomach yearned for more. It had been a long she had eaten home food.
"You didn't tell me Margarita was such a good cook, " she said before she dipped another piece in her mouth.
"If I had told you she was a good cook you would have stolen her from me like you always do," Alice told her before she put another bite in her mouth.
Sofia just smiled at her sister's statement.
The age difference between Sofia and Alice was just two. Despite that fact, Sofia always got what she wanted ever since they were children. Everything Alice had Sofia would want to take it away.
Alice never hated Sofia for that. She always considered it an act of love. Since she was her younger sister.
"You look the prettiest when you smile. A frown does not fit that pretty face of yours, " Alice commented to Sofia and she earned another smile on her sister's face.
"That's the spirit," Alice added joyfully.
"Miss Alice I'll take my leave now, " Margarita said as she fixed her dress.
Margarita was about the same age as Sofia and she was very attractive. She was really a hard one to miss.
Alice hired her because of her pretty face and the fact that she was an excellent cook. Alice always had mini parties every time and she wanted someone attractive to serve her guest some good food.
"Okay, be safe on the roads, and don't forget to take your pills," Alice warned. To outsiders, it was unbelievable to have Alice act this nice to someone that was an employee of hers but she had her moments.
"What pills?" Sofia asked as she took the Last bite from her plate.
"She's an asthmatic patient. This period she's prone to attacks," Alice informed her before standing up to clear the table.
"Let me help," Sofia offered to reach out for some of the plates in Alice's hands.
"Thanks." Alice smiled sweetly at her as they walked to the kitchen and dipped the plates in the sink.
They wiped their hands and Alice picked out the dessert from the fridge before they returned to the living room.
"You'll need some ice for that," Alice said as she stared at the growing bump on her sister's forehead.
Sofia brushed her hand on the spot and she remembered how she was hitting her head on the wheel earlier this evening. With the memories came the reason why she was In her sister's house in the first place.
"Alice, look at me," she said to her sister.
Alice looked up at Sofia in confusion.
"Am I not pretty enough?" Sofia asked in a high pitched voice.
"Who said you weren't pretty?"
"Then why does Ethan not like me!" She yelled before she placed her head in her arms and resumed crying.
"I have everything a guy needs in a lady. So why does he keep going back to that filthy low-life bitch!" She screamed at the top of her voice.
Alice was quiet. She had learned that it was best she let Sofia pour out her mind before commenting.
"Who wouldn't want me? I have everything, money, fame, beauty. What more could he possibly want!" She questioned with tears flowing out of her eyes.
"I tried everything in the dictionary of getting a man! but nothing seems to work! We sleep together and the next day he throws me out of his office like I was some trash! Why?" She whined before she collapsed on her sister's leg.
Alice allowed her to cry out her pain. When it reduced to sobs and sniffs, that was when she spoke to her.
"Why do you keep going back? There are a lot of men out there, yet you keep going back to this guy. Look at you!" Alice pulled her face higher so she could see her face.
"You look like you just got resurrected from the dead. Your eyes are puffy. Your face is red and your hair is a mess! Sweetheart, you are a freaking hot mess!" Alice shook her by the shoulder like she was sleeping
"Hun! But I really love him so much!" Sofia sobbed, gazing into her sister's eyes for help. "Is it a crime to love now?" She asked as a fresh flow of tears filled up her face in an instant.
"Love? Are you sure it's love or an obsession?" Alice asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I didn't follow him around with a machete or try to keep his dead body." Sofia shrugged wiping a stray tear. "It's not an obsession!"
The tears from her eyes had already dried as Alice ran her hands through her sister's hair.
"Are you sure you have tried everything in the book?" Alice asked her sister as she started to play with her thick hair.
They were both brunettes but Sofia had thicker curls than her elder sister.
Sofia sat up and looked at her sister in confusion.
"What do you mean by that?" Sofia asked her sister.
Alice smiled at her sister and she tucked a strand of her hair at the back of her ear.
"I may have a plan or two cooking up in my head," Alice said before she clasped her hands together and placed them on her penciled skirt.
"What is it? I want to hear!" Sofia screeched in excitement. She knew that Alice always cooked up the best plans in her head.
"How about we try to make Ethan and his girlfriend break apart. By making it seem like she is cheating," Alice said with her smile never leaving her face.
"But how do we do that? Ethan will never believe," Sofia said still not complying with the plan.
"Even if we give him a video?" Alice asked.
"I didn't think of that, but how do we do it?"
"Baby you are smarter than this, we set her up obviously, " she said before she clapped her hands together again. "Once Ethan sees it, all the love he thinks he has for her will wipe off and he will come running to you fit help!"
