"I would like to visit some patients of this wonderful clinic," I said while showing him a smile with thirty-two teeth.
"No one has the right to enter here without a pass," the man said emotionlessly.
"Oh, that's for sure," I took out Wayne and Gordon's letters of recommendation, as well as a top-level pass that Barbara had successfully issued for me. Of course, with the help of her father and the bat-computer.
"For those who like papers, I always have a couple of passes in my pocket. Anything else?"
"Yes, I don't like you!" said the face in front of me.
"Likewise... So can I get through?"
We looked at each other without hiding our hostility. Still, my opponent gave in first and stepped aside, opening the way for me.
"Have a good visit, I hope you stay here longer. Better forever…"
"Dream on, maybe it will work out," I threw out at last, without turning around. God, what kind of people work here. What a nasty security guard!

However, I was unable to see the director and head doctor of this crazy clinic. It turned out that he was away. Well, it was not a great loss.
"Sir, I should remind you that this man is absolutely insane, and we do not know what exactly to expect from him. Therefore, I remind you once again to be extremely careful and vigilant when communicating with him," having squeezed out the last warning, the doctor opened the door.

I was greeted by a dull interior, green walls, shabby plaster, and crazy inscriptions addressed to Batman, and ... Me? When did I even have time? In the center of the room, in a straitjacket, sat the prince of Gotham's criminal world, and his face, as always, was adorned with his signature smile.
"Alex, you won't believe how happy I am to see you!" the Joker exclaimed joyfully. "It's been thirteen days since our last meeting. I almost thought you forgot about me. I even got a little upset."
"What are you talking about, J? I gave my word, and I always keep it. So, how are you doing here?" I asked, sitting down opposite.
"There's no reason to complain, the service is excellent, they feed you twice a day, shock therapy three times a day, talks with a psychiatrist on schedule, and then the little things. Talking to myself, thoughts about global chaos, plans to escape, just don't tell anyone, and, of course, reading books. I reread my favorite "It" from time to time. How are you? Is Gotham still there? I hope some psychopath didn't take it over while I was hanging out here," the clown asked, his smile widening.
Seriously, he was starting to remind me of the Grinch...
"Everything's the same, the city is still there, Batman is on guard. I'm busy with company business, I recently released a new song and a video. And of course, I finished writing a book," I pulled it out of my bosom and put it on the table.
"I promised a book that would be better than "It."
"A Clockwork Orange? is that me on the cover?" he asked rhetorically. "Ha-hah-heH-Hah-Haah. I like it already! I can't wait to read it,I'm looking forward to it! Haha-hhhaaaha. A book with my face on the cover can't help but be interesting."
In an instant, his cheerful face changed to an expression of sadness. A tear almost fell from his eyes. "Alex, I am grateful to you. No one has ever dedicated such valuable works of fiction to me before... With the exception of newspapers, medical certificates, scientific research by psychiatrists, and several dissertations regarding my mental state, haha-HaHA-haAhhah."
And now, the cheerful face has returned. Oh no, it's gone again…
"And yet, there is something special in your books. They are interesting, and as if they were written personally for me. I appreciate it," said the Joker, in a calm voice, and a rare friendly smile for him. "So, how about a game of cards? He-he-HA."
Good old Joker again. Well, at least he tried. Eh, his emotional state is extremely unstable. So guess his mood, which changes every second due to his chaotic thoughts. But it seems that he is grateful to me, albeit in his own, crazy way. You never know, we might become friends.
Well, I don't mind, as long as he doesn't touch me and my loved ones. After all, if you think about it, there are only advantages to being friends with this psychopath... I guess. Eh, who am I kidding... Having exchanged a few sentences with the Joker, I hurried to the exit.
"Come by again sometime, Alex. You are always a welcome guest here. I hope that I will still be here the next time you visit. Ha-ha-Ha."
Several specialists came to see him, while the doctor and I went to the next patient. Fragments of words were heard from the Joker's cell, "Quickly, take these rags off me before I arrange a fun Halloween night for you here ahead of time. And just dare to touch the book, I…"
I didn't hear the last part, but it seems to me they will avoid this book. It's more expensive to anger a crazy clown, and I think they know this firsthand. It's not for me to worry about this, so away with these thoughts, and focus on the next long-awaited meeting.

"Yes, I already understood," I interrupted the boring doctor. "I know who is on the other side of the bars, and I know how to behave with them. You can open the door."
