"Really?" I asked in a very surprised tone. "Who is it?"
"Her name is Tatsu Yamashiro. She is my goddaughter…"
What?! That's "Katana"! Why the hell did she suddenly become Alfred's goddaughter? And besides, he is asking me to choose her as a bodyguard? Why is that? As far as I remember her biography, she was a very complex person with a tragic past.
Her husband was killed by his own brother, using the mystical sword "Soultaker". During the battle with the killer, she managed to disarm him and take the sword, in which her husband's soul rested.
Unfortunately, the killer escaped and she swore revenge on him. How does Alfred even know about her? Wait a minute! I remembered that in the animated series "Beware of Batman", she appears as Alfred's goddaughter and becomes Bruce's bodyguard.
She was a CIA agent. She went undercover in the League of Assassins to steal the Soultaker sword from them before they could use it for global evil. Namely, to intimidate people by threatening to take their souls. I remember they then chased her to get the stolen sword back. But thanks to the help of the Dark Knight, they failed.
Is this really the plot of this world?! Are you kidding me?
"Thank you, Alfred," I tried to make a natural smile, but it didn't work out very well. "Could you tell her that I agree to hire her. I'm sure she's a wonderful specialist, since you suggested her to me."
Of course, my unnatural behavior did not escape Batman's sharp gaze, "Do you know her, Alex?"
"Like all of you," I didn't hide it. After all, I'm the person who knows more than others.
"And what are you thinking about? Is there a problem with her?" Wayne was wary.

Yeah, everything turned out to be more complicated than I initially assumed. This world is too unpredictable, chaotic, and fickle. I noticed this a long time ago, but I did not pay as close attention as it required.
In particular, this concerns the canon of this universe. It resembles a big hodgepodge here! There is no one specific storyline here... Everything is collected from different pieces.
For example, the plot of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is in effect here, but at the same time mutants live here, and their story unfolds far from the way it does in the films.
Rather, it is a mixture of films, comics and animated series. And which specific character, from which story is in this world, remains a mystery.
The same goes for the DC Universe… I would say that the New 52 universe dominates here. But this reboot of DC Comics happened because of Flashpoint, and it has not been here yet.
Moreover, there was no "Crisis on Infinite Earths" here either!
This means that the world will have to face not only Darkseid and Thanos, but also the Anti-Monitor. And that's not good, comrades!
In addition, the fastest man on Earth is currently running around the world, and he can travel to the past at any moment and make his grand "Flashpoint", seriously changing current history.
So I'll have to run to Barry in the future and hammer it into his head that time travel is not a very good thing to do. I also found out today that the canon here also includes various cartoons, as well as the DC TV series universe, and so on...
At that moment, I realized why my intuition is so well developed. Because without it, I would be completely confused about what's happening. But thanks to it, I have a rough idea of the direction the canon is heading... I just didn't pay that much attention to it before, but if I concentrate, I can put everything that's happening into perspective.
So, not everything is as scary as it seemed at first glance. Tearing myself away from my deep thoughts, I turned to the Gotham billionaire again.
"Bruce, I have one more small favor to ask of you."
"You're already scaring me," the man said, throwing a heavy look at me.
"Come on! I just need a device that can detect the presence of a living organism at a great distance. Ideally, it would be great if it could sense the warmth of a human body, even one buried under ice. Does Wayne Enterprises have something like that?"
"Why do you need such a thing? Who are you going to look for?"
"I'll tell you when the time comes."

"And I can already imagine how much, judging by your joy," said Bats, rubbing the inner corners of his eyes.
"I must be present at that moment," Dick said with a cheerful smile.
"I don't want to be left out either," added Barbara. "If this shocks Bruce, then in theory it will shock us too. And knowing Alex, he'll definitely come up with some crazy news."
"I almost forgot!" I cried out, remembering yesterday's promise. "Listen, Bruce, I told Victoria that I know Batman. But I didn't give away your identity until I knew your opinion. So, can I tell her everything?"
"Are you kidding me now? Do you intend to tell the journalist my identity?" Gotham City's protector asked, not believing his own ears.
"She's not going to announce it to the public. It's just, you could use some trusted people…You need people you can turn to for help, not just like Batman, but Bruce Wayne too."
"Revealing my secret could put her life in danger!"
"There will be dangers in her life, even if you keep your secret silent. Trust me, I know what I'm talking about."
"And you agree with that?"
"There's no way I can avoid it, so it's better to face those dangers head on."
"She's just a human being, you understand that, right?"
"Not for long! I'll make sure she has the strength to deal with any threats that come her way," I said, my voice firm and confident. "She's my girl, and I trust her. Bruce, if you trust me, you can trust those I trust! I'm not wrong about people, you should have realized that by now."
Batman looked at me silently with his meaningful gaze, feverishly thinking in his head. "Do whatever you want," he gave in, turning away from me and staring at the monitors.
"Well, Alex, you really are a great negotiator," Nightwing whistled. "Now I'm even starting to think that you'll be able to make Pamela good again."
"Let's see... I'm honestly not too sure about this idea," I ran my hand through my hair.
"Before I forget, I wanted to tell you something about the Joker," I returned the Dark Knight's attention to myself. "You're doing the right thing by deciding not to kill him. After meeting him, I realized that things are far from so clear-cut. You could say that he is being watched by a very powerful entity. And it would be better if we do not anger it."
"Who are you talking about?" Bruce was more interested than ever now.
"I'm afraid it's too early for us to face this. I just wanted to say...don't blame yourself for not killing him. You saved far more lives by keeping him alive than he would have taken by being dead....."
