“I wonder why that is…since you don't care” Bonnie said.
He came to stand in front of her, his eyes blazing with anger, “I never said that i don't care he said, “You can say all you want, but don't twist my words.
“Actions speak louder than words, David. ''Bonnie retorted, “You have been looking for ways to get rid of me for a while now, and now you finally have a reason so I'll leave but I still stand my ground. I’m not going back to my dad. You can take me back to my place and I'll stay out of your way from now on.”
“Are you just trying to annoy me?” David asked, unable to hide his frustration any more.
“Believe me when i say this, David. The way you feel right now is the least of my concerns. You said i’m a target because of you, i’m sure i’ll be safe when i’m away from you”
He stiffened. “That's not how it works”
“That's my decision, David. You better take it and stay out of my way. Now if you will excuse me, I need to get dressed so please leave. I need some privacy, and please try knocking next time.”
She turned away, dismissing him just the way he had done to her. It hurt her so much to do it, but if he was going to continue to push her away, there was no point humiliating herself over him.
“I will be waiting outside” David said as he stepped out of the room, shutting the door softly behind him when he actually wanted to slam it.

Thanks to David's contacts, he was able to find a flight for both of them scheduled the next day. They would have to lodge at a hotel close to the airport so they didn't miss the flight. They bade Mavis and Mandy goodbye that evening and David left Blue Blood in Mavis's care and promised to check on them regularly.
David and Bonnie booked a cab and headed for the hotel. The ride was awfully and painfully quiet and Bonnie kept herself busy by looking out the window. David stole glances in her direction, but she didn't even flinch or spare a glance his way. He wanted to talk, but he didn't want to draw unnecessary attention from the driver so he kept to himself. When they arrived at the hotel, he tried to book a room for the both of them, but Bonnie pulled him to the side.
"There's no way I'm sharing a room with you" she said, glaring at him.
David almost laughed, but he knew that wouldn't help the situation so he held it in, but that didn't stop him from saying what he had in mind. "You didn't have a problem with that when we were on the boat together" he said as he held her gaze.
Bonnie's cheeks turned pink and she looked away. "That was different," she said. "Can't you just get us two separate rooms?"
"No. I'm not letting you out of my sight. Have you forgotten why we are doing this in the first place? Don't worry, I'll give you your space and I'll stay away from you. We don't even have to sleep together on the bed if you don't want to"
Bonnie seemed to give his words some thought before she finally nodded. David paid for their rooms and they headed inside.
"You can go take a shower while I call and order dinner" David said when they got in. Bonnie said nothing, but she did as he said. David ordered some rice, salad, and a bottle of red wine. When Bonnie finally emerged from the bathroom he was already done eating, although he ate very little. He couldn't bring himself to eat much when he was so worried about her, and if he was being honest with himself, he was also worried about their separation… trying to get used to the fact that this was probably going to be the end. There was a chance he might not see her again after this.
He went to the bathroom and made sure that he took a cold shower to cool his nerves. The woman had no idea how little control he had when he was around her, and with her being so mad at him he knew there was no chance that she'd let him touch her. It would be torture not to touch her, but he'd keep to himself tonight. It was probably for the best and I'd make it easier to say goodbye.
When he returned to the room Bonnie was in bed already. She looked so small under the duvet and she had her back to him. From her body language, he was sure she didn't want him anywhere near her so he took the couch in the room. The couch could barely contain his huge body but it'd do for the night.
Bonnie tossed and turned under the sheets, but sleep would not come. David had turned off the lights, but he had left a dim one on the table. It wasn't too bright, but it was enough so she could see around the room once her eyes adjusted. She sat up and looked around, then found David on the couch. She stared at him for a moment before he turned to face her and she realized that he wasn't asleep either.
"Can't sleep?" she asked, then added when he didn't respond, "I can't either."
David sighed. "Go to sleep, Bonnie," He said.
Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Like I said, I'm trying but I can't. You know, that couch looks a bit too small for you. You can join me here on the bed. I don't mind."
David shut his eyes and turned away from her. He hoped she'd stop talking and make things easier for him. It was bad enough that he was stuck in the same room with her… unable to touch her without stirring feelings that he didn't want. "I'm fine, Bonnie" He lied. "Please go to sleep."
She sat up instead and David groaned. "You know you are not comfortable there" she said. "Jeez, why do you always have to be so stubborn? You just have this annoying need to control everything and it's exhausting. Why can't you just let yourself go so you can relax? Or do you enjoy being so fucking tense all the time?"
