CHAPTER 88
CHRISTIAN
The last few days had been more than tough for Christian.
He tried his best not to think of Sara, but the images he had seen three days ago were carefully engraved in his memory, in a way that he couldn’t just forget about it.
It crawled up in his head every damn time. Laying on his bed at night, creeping up in his dreams, every single image of Sara with that mystery man kept coming up and he would wake up breathing hard, heart clenching and unable to sleep.
The last few days passing by was torture for him, and was tired of it all. He was damn tired of everything.
Love, Trust, Hopes, Dreams, every single thing he had longed for, crashing in the blink of an eye and he just didn’t know what to think again.
Worse still, she still had not come to see him, leaving him no explanation whatsoever than the stark truth that she was probably ashamed of herself, and couldn’t bare to face him after the atrocity she had committed.
She was not picking her cell phone, and it kept on ringing but sometimes she would cut the call. Ariel her friend hadn’t called to, Daniel was away on some big errands for the supermarket in another city, and he was all alone suffering this harsh fate.
He couldn’t even go to the shelter, because he had no idea how to face her, and what would he even say. He was now…
“Fuck!” He screamed, gripping the handle of his bathroom sink, staring at his sleep deprived face at the small mirror facing him.
His eyes were red rimmed from crying and thinking to much, and there were liquor bottles strewn about his room, that he’d kept hidden sometimes whenever his mother walked in to check up on him. The alcohol made him feel numb, taking his mind of his worries, and it did a good job in keeping him sane.
Turning on the sink, and watching the water gush out sharply, Christian dipped his hands in the ice cold liquid, and splashed some of it on his face. Washing himself speedily, he grabbed a towel nearby, cleaned his face, changed his shirt and proceeded to look at himself in the full length mirror once again.
He looked worn out, his eyes still showing how sober he was, and taking his baseball cap from the bedside table, he wore it instantly, the material shielding his face a bit.
Taking a brisk step towards his door, he glanced back at his room, and eyes roaming about he sighed out loud, stepped out and locked the door shut.
On getting downstairs, he met his mother in the living room, sorting some vegetables, and the moment she saw him she stopped what she was doing, standing up immediately.
“Son…” The worry that laced her voice tugged at his heart, and his chest tightened in agony.
Everything thing hurt, it hurt so freaking much.
“Mother…” He began clearing his throat, and trying to hold back the residue of tears that burned in his eyes, “I’ll be back. I want to take a little stroll down the neighborhood.”
“Are you okay, son?” She asked gently, walking towards him and placing a hand on his shoulder, another on his cheek caressing it softly.
“I’m fine mother.” He braved putting on a smile, and added, “I’ll be back soon. Take care, and make sure dinner is ready before I get back.” He jokingly added, chuckling as he finished and she smiled at him.
The lines on her face as she smiled tearfully at him. It was as if she was bearing the pain with him, and he didn’t like it one bit.
Overwhelmed with emotions, sniffing back tears still, Christian leaned forwards and pulled his mother in for a soft hug.
“Everything will be fine son. There is more to this happening, and Sara would come…”
“I don’t want to hear her name mother!” He half yelled, his heart breaking and he couldn’t take it anymore as he began to sob on her shoulders.
“Oh my dear boy.” His mother mumbled, crying with him, and the only noise in the sparse room was their sobs.
“I’ll be okay mother.” Christian mused, straightening himself and pulling out from the embrace, he began to leave.
He didn’t say a word again, walking to the door and with a brisk nod, he said his tied goodbye, waving at her and banged the front door shut.
Standing in front of the porch, his eyes roaming left and right, the cool breeze whipping past, Christian placed his hands in his jacket and made the first step towards nowhere in particular.
If only he could turn back the hands of time, maybe he would avert the first day he met Sara Parker.

DINAH’S POV
The minute he stepped out of his house, Dinah sprang up from where she had been seated waiting all these while.
It had been approximately three days since the incident at the carnival festival, and so far everything she predicted had been going on smoothly.
All the money she had paid the carnival attendants were not in vain at all, because they had cleared all the camera footages of Dinah and her gang, and even when she heard that the police had come to search the grounds they had gotten nothing on her.
With the help of Mikey’s gang again, she had cornered Miranda threatening to kill her if she said a thing to Ariel and Sara, and then she had paid the fat snitch some money to stay at a hotel until everything cooled down. She didn’t even care that Miranda was the only source of information she could have gotten in the shelter, she just had to get rid of her, because she couldn’t risk the truth coming out in any way
She didn’t know if Sara and Christian had broken up already, but from the look of things, since she had been stalking him these past few days, he looked like he was depressed and plunging into a state of unrest.
She had seen him go to bars, getting drunk, and he never went to the shelter again, which amounted to the fact that things were not to well with them.
Nevertheless, she had lurked in the shadows for too long and now was the perfect time to strike.
She followed from behind as he walked for hours, coming to a stop at the neighborhood chunky beach, and sitting on the first bench he came across.
She would lay low for a while, before meeting him, she thought to herself, and as she stood looking at him, Dinah recapped everything she would say to him this blissful evening.
She couldn’t afford to mess it up, because only after this would she know if she stood a chance to be with him. Her discussion with him tonight too would determine if she could go ahead in her plans to get rid of Mikey, or not.
Clearing her throat, she glanced at him again, and this time she saw he was throwing stones into the sea, probably wanting to keep himself busy.
This was the perfect time she could get to sneak up on him and do her deed…
She composed herself, staring down at the flowery lacy gown she had worn tonight, and rubbing her lips together, she took the first step forward and off she went.
